Introducing foobar2000 setup assistant, turning your computer into a streamer with a single click

Fidelizer - foobar2000 setup assistant

 

After releasing Fidelizer 8.10 for a while, I noticed something about computer audio setup. It’s not easy to setup computer as a streamer for most people. Even Roon or Audirvana need some configuration to use Tidal / Qobuz and can be quite complicated for end user.

foobar2000 is free to be downloaded and installed to use. But to get streaming working with foobar2000, most people don’t know how to set it up. JRiver is good and affordable solution that supports DLNA/uPNP too. But most people don’t know how to set it up.

Meanwhile in Rasberry Pi and other arm devices have Linux distro pre-configured with streaming feature ready to be used. It’s actually easier for beginner to select firmware image and flash on micro SD card to boot.

 

After realizing this, I checked foobar2000’s license terms again and prepare a separated installer software outside original installer called “foobar2000_setup.exe” This program will perform silent installation of foobar2000 and setup components and configuration after installing.

With foobar2000 version 2.0, WASAPI exclusive audio output is implemented by default so you won’t need 3rd-party components to setup. That way, it’s possible to redistribute unmodified installer and apply configuration file separately with high audio performance optimized.

Since DLNA/uPNP and SACD input components have GPL license, I hope it’s okay to redistribute those files outside foobar2000 installer for community’s benefits. With foobar2000 setup assistant, you can turn PC into an uPNP streamer with a single click.

Nikola Classic and Nikola2 linear power supply will have price adjusted on 1st September 2023

Nikola - linear power supply

 

Hi. I’ve been discussing about production cost with technician lately about how we can keep developing Nikola linear power supply as affordable highend solutions to market and we came into conclusion recently so I’ll announce the changes today.

Since the last price adjustment of Nikola2, we still have price gradually increased on both Nikola Classic and Nikola2 as below.

  1. Transformer have price increased on both Nikola Classic and Nikola2
  2. Internal parts such as capacitors, resistors, diodes, and others  have price increased on both Nikola Classic and Nikola2
  3. Parts for building DC Cable have price increased on both Nikola Classic and Nikola2

As a result, we need to adjust price based on production cost as we don’t want to compromise product’s performance for more affordable part, losing standards both I and technician share in our products.

Starting 1st September 2023, Nikola Classic will have price increased to $449 USD and Nikola2 will have price increased to $899 USD. Nikola Classic will maintain the same price as EtherStream2 network switch as recommended linear power supply upgrade for now.

I’m very thankful to all customers who support Fidelizer products that we keep selling good quality products despite having low exposure and marketing in past years. Both technician and I never expected that product we built for fun as friends will reach 400th order soon.

EtherStream2 - Network Switch

 

After successful launch of EtherStream2 network switch, I received a lot of positive impressions from clients and a few of them also own original EtherStream unit with satisfying improvement from previous version.

Fidelizer 8.10 released – Improved core isolation optimization and compatibility with ExerciseStabilizer/ExtremeStabilizer

After releasing Fidelizer 8.9 with some changes to support more cases, I realized two things from customer’s feedback. First is no feedback from customers configuring processor to have specific cores turned off. Next is some people prefer 8.8 sound.

After realizing how this new change doesn’t actually improve customer’s satisfaction, I changed my approach to fully focus on most common implementation with 2 cores per floating point unit and optimize core isolation to handle physical/logical cores better.

Now non-audio processes won’t touch cores in first FPU and focus more on logical cores if there’s no enforcement to last core only. Media Player Application will focus on physical cores. ExerciseStabilizer/ExtremeStabilizer is now compatible with Fidelizer too.

As a result, Fidelizer 8.10 has reached a new high improving synergy between Windows audio thread, media player applications, and non-audio processes. This update is very important and I highly recommend everyone to install this update.
